It has been a trend that with age goes the high sperm count. I must state that this is not a tolerable assumption. I call it an assumption mind you. Though it has been the trend, I would not have any of it in any way. My wish is to stay fertile into my nineties and I am very serious with this one because I would not allow myself to be infertile at any age of my existence.
It has been reported by professionals that the sperm count has been going down over the years, same as fertility in men. They report that the human sperms do not swim perfectly in media and fail to impregnate the eggs as required. Sperm population per millimeter has gone below the normal level of 15 million. They say that we have grown more infertile than our ancestors and other animals.
The trend of fertilization has now shifted to that of artificial procedures as opposed to natural mating due to underperformance of the human sperms. It has saved many of us and in fact, was it not for technology we would be at a very bad stage of our race today if one comes to think of it. Some people agree to this while others insist that we have to pull up our socks as men.
Some of the thing that have been connected to this genetic failure include obesity, being so thin or emaciated, general laziness, overeating junks, toxicity of our environment and drug and substance abuse. One Urologist called Harry Fish says he can tell a man is infertile by simple taking a look at the belly and the sperm count!
He clearly does not approve of in vitro fertilization procedure and says, “The testicle is the future”. He says that men need to change their ways for a fertile society to be rebuilt. Discouraging the use of testosterone and other drugs, correction of problems such as varicose veins in testicles through surgical means, and other infections to the prostrate and urinary tracts are some methods he thinks will save the human race.
Natural selection of the most prolific males has been demonstrated by the high rates of cheating by women and increased tussle for the ladies by men in a battle where only the strong survive. The infertile and genetically inferior male is thrown out of the heredity line as he cannot pass his genes to a woman.
Yet another problem still faces the human sperm. Naturally, the sperms are supposed to be undetected by the female antibodies due to a protein cover around its body as the reverse is a detriment. However, the production of this important protein by many men is on the decline, predisposing the sperm to a bid biological fight it cannot win.
The effect of this on many people all over the world has been a huge one. Couples have been rendered childless due to this problem and something has got to be done. So far, the scientists have been doing something good and there is still much in the lab to help us get back to our good olden days.
There is the recommendation of applying this protein prior to sexual intercourse to cover the sperms from antibiotic action by the female body. Not a spermicidal one but a pro-conceptive substance in this case. It can work, we just have to believe and try it too.
Another method of increasing sperm count is by a lab procedure where the sis searched for and implanted artificially in a fertile female egg. However, some scientists that are pro-natural mating use the method of stem tissue harvesting from the testicles of a seemingly infertile man, culturing the cells and repositioning them in the testicles of the same man for spermatogenesis.
Sperms could be frozen and reactivated for use after several years when they would have become mature enough for fertilization. So believe me when I talk of fertility throughout my life. Some say that in future, men would not be able to produce sperms due to all these supportive procedures. It is a pity, but good for me I would be long gone by then though I feel for my descendants
